Strange Advance... An underrated CANADIAN band from the 1980s. Their music defies description. A powerful mixture of bass, synth, and guitar. The Sci-Fi, Futuristic, intelligent New Wave style this band portrayed is now a lost art. This site is meant to help keep Strange Advance alive. An informational and hopefully entertaining resource made available by a fan, from a fan's perspective.
I've started a Strange Advance Fan Club on Facebook. You have to be a Facebook member to join. Click here to be taken to the Facebook homepage. Once registered, Click here to view the Fan Club page, and to join.
Worlds Away – A short animated film. By Pete Swoboda.
When Worlds Away was released in 1982 I was working as the production guy at CFOX radio in Vancouver. From the first time I heard the song played on the air I envisioned some sort of flying sequence to go along with the dominant feel of the track. I remember countless evenings at home with my Bang and Olufsen headphones listening to Worlds Away over and over, all the while planning just how the video shots of flying would fit with every change in the music. Well, several years and a couple of career changes later I got heavily into computer animation and special effects for video. Now I had the tools and the know-how to finally put together a project that would satisfy the vision I had carried in my mind for so long. This short film is the result of four months of animating and rendering images that I felt would go so well with Worlds Away, a song I still enjoy as much today as I did the very first time I heard it.
